Love this image..the quote made me smile or was it the image made me happy..or both…I was relieved to see it was taken in Mongolia…then I don’t have to worry about the fate of the lamb and the man..or do I?

Hi Marie
Thanks. Glad you like the quote pic-mix. Took me a while to find something for this picture as it took a long time for this man to warm up , and him picking him up the lamb and cuddling it was the end of a very bizarre chain of events which started with us packing up our camp at midnight and throwing tents (still up) and bikes into our Russian kombi van and running away from what we thought were people coming to rob us. We ended up camping on the edge of this mans village only to realise that he was potentially one of the men who was out hunting marmots and potentially foreign cyclists the night before. he taxed us 2 jars of polish pickles and a peanut butter before offering our driver a welcomeing mares milk. The kids were all very cute and our attention shifted to them as the situation eased. We photographed them holding this lamb until the pickle-taxer looked like he wanted in on the action. It makes me laugh now that one minute we were crouched behind our russian kombi with tire irons waiting in the dark for a mongol raid, the next morning we were photographing suspect number 1 hugging a lamb.

Great adventure…I think I like the lamb best..,
Most people have snaps to remind them of a great time they had on holiday but you have photographs that remind you of those amazing adventures…a story behind every one.

This image is amazing! Brilliantly captured!
It reminds me of a verse “he tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart”.
The verse is talking about Jesus, the good shepherd, who gave his life for his “sheep “, that is us humans who, like sheep have wandered off, far away from God. Jesus died for us, so that he can welcome us and forgive us, as we come to him admitting that we have gone wrong on our own. He holds us close, keeping us safe, and loving us, just like this man obviously loves his lamb!
