Don’t you love the way that everyone sees different things in a picture – and in a quote. Golok is completely LOTR – I agree. Golum, is not an association with Golok for me though he is relevant to this quote , i think, in almost a reverse kind of way. Golum represents the side of us that gets seduced by desire and unconsciousness, and it is only through being very present with his task that Frodo avoids becoming Golum himself. I love that Frodo ultimately recognises himself in Golum i.e his potential to become him, and doesn’t cast him out like Sam Ganges always wants to.
