Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, they belong not to you. You may give them your love, but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward, nor tarries with yesterday. --Kahlil Gibran

When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don't blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and arguments. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding.
- Thich Nhat Hahn

"Dear friends, when a raindrop falls into a still pond, It dissolves inseparably in its own nature, And nothing has occurred. But when the same raindrop falls into the same pond, Ripples shine and dance on the water's skin. From these two ways of seeing one thing Come the true magic that raises and destroys kingdoms, That increases joy or misery, brilliance or degradation." - King Gesar

"You've no idea how hard I've looked for a gift to bring You. Nothing seemed right.
What's the point of bringing gold to the gold mine, or water to the ocean.
Everything I came up with was like taking spices to the Orient.
It's no good giving my heart and my soul because you already have these.
So - I've brought you a mirror. Look at yourself and remember me."
- Jalaluddin Rumi.

"What if a demon were to creep after you one night, in your loneliest loneliness, and say, 'This life which you live must be lived by you once again and innumerable times more; and every pain and joy and thought and sigh must come again to you, all in the same sequence. The eternal hourglass will again and again be turned and you with it, dust of the dust!' Would you throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse that demon? Or would you answer, 'Never have I heard anything more
divine'?"
- Friedrich Nietzsche.

Two come about because of one, but don't cling to the one either! So long as the mind does not stir, the ten thousand things stay blameless: no blame, no phenomena, no stirring, no mind.

Teaism is a cult founded on the adoration of the beautiful among the sordid facts of everyday existence. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life. Okukura.

Every day a new picture is painted and framed, held up for half an hour, in such lights as the Great Artist chooses, and then withdrawn, and the curtain falls. And then the sun goes down, and long the afterglow gives light.Henry David Thoreau
