November 19th

"Dear friends, when a raindrop falls into a still pond, It dissolves inseparably in its own nature, And nothing has occurred. But when the same raindrop falls into the same pond, Ripples shine and dance on the water's skin. From these two ways of seeing one thing Come the true magic that raises and destroys kingdoms, That increases joy or misery, brilliance or degradation." - King Gesar

I love the Gesar stories, and that they are an oral story , passed along, poetic and sung .
” my body is protected in profound and subtle ways. Before Gesar if he is alive or any other being can kill me, first he must kill my beautiful sister, seductive as the desire for death, the essence of my craving, who dwells at the summit of the Tree of Delight in the sky kingdom of the east.

Then he must get possession of the emerald beetle , the seed of my life force which is the belief in the reality of life and death. it is guarded by my hideous, cannibal-demon sister, terrifying as the fear of death, who is the essence of my wrath in the sky kingdom of the West.

Then he must come in the night and kill the golden fish of confidence that slips from my right nostirl while I sleep and plays on my right shoulder , and the silver fish of conciousness that slips from my left nostril and plays on my left shoulder.”
( the Warrior song of King Gesar, as translated by Douglas J. Penck)

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it.
Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held.
Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books.
Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin.
Believe nothing just because someone else believes it.
Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. – Buddha
